Heart of the Current, ebru (somakî/pebble battal with gelgit and biz pulls), pigments and ox gall on paper

A pale, lace-blue field of pebble cells swirls around a large, softly domed nucleus, as if the water itself were gathering breath. Around this calm center, veins of ochre, cinnabar, viridian and black braid into lively eddies; occasional biz pulls coax branching fans that read like river deltas or coral growth. The palette is classical yet bright, and the technique assured: crisp rings around the “stones,” elastic veining, no sinking, no muddiness—evidence of a finely tuned balance of size and ox gall. Rather than a single motif, the work composes flow itself: turbulence framing stillness, structure born from drift—the living cartography of water.
